Bodhi Health Logo

Born in 2018, Bodhi began with a focus on physical health through movement. As it has grown and learnt, that focus has evolved.

Bodhi exists to assist people in achieving their health and healing goals. We believe that knowledge is power - with improved self-awareness and practical skills to implement consistently, we can live our best lives.

Bodhi is manifesting a world where health is in the hands of each person, not found in a doctor’s room. We cannot wait for each person to find movement they love, to eat in a way that feels good for them, to manage the unavoidable stress of this day and age, to sleep well every night and to love themselves and others unconditionally.

Bodhi is guided by the fact that everyone is an individual and there is no “one size fits all”. Bodhi prioritises progress over perfection. Bodhi believes that a holistic approach to health and wellness includes nourishing the body, mind, spirit and the connections we have with others.

  • Where is the studio?
Tonic Barre and Pilates Studio; 41D Gleneagles Road, Greenside. You’ll know you’re there when you see the hair salon, tailor and thai massage parlour. The studio is at the back, next to the bakery.
  • How do I get in?
The studio door will be unlocked at least 10 minutes before the start of a class. Come in and find Bodhi upstairs. Please close the door behind you.
  • Where do I park?
There is parking in front of the businesses and around the right side of the bicycle shop.
  • What must I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. The studio is quite hot, so don’t dress too warmly. Wearing layers is a good idea. Be barefoot or wear sticky socks.
  • Must I bring my own mat?
Mats and equipment are provided; however, you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
  • What else must I bring?
Bring your own sweat towel and water bottle.
  • Can I shower after class?
Although there is a small shower, the geyser is not turned on. So if you’re desperate and up for a cold shower, you are welcome, but this is not a facility we offer at this time.
  • What classes do you offer?
60 minute group classes inspired by Pilates, Yoga and Fascia Release - a unique mix of movement forms, focused on creating body awareness and educating pain-free moving and living.
  • Are the classes suitable for beginners?
Although the classes are “mixed ability”, if you are a complete beginner, you will need to have a few private sessions before joining a group. This will ensure your safety and greatest benefit.
  • Can I join the class to rehab an injury?
If you are cleared for physical movement, you will need to have a few private sessions to assess whether or not you’ll be able to join a group.
  • Do you offer classes for pregnant women?
Currently there are no pregnancy-specific classes; however, you can join a group, as movements can be modified for you. This will be dependent on your pregnancy though.
  • How big are the classes?
There are a maximum of 8 people per class.
  • How do I book a class?
Use the app to see the schedule and book classes, or put yourself on the waiting list. Bookings for classes open a month in advance.
  • How do I pay for a class?
Use the app or pay in studio with cash or card.
  • What if I can’t make a class I’ve booked for?
Bookings can be changed or cancelled on the app up to 12 hours prior to the start time of the class. If it is less than 12 hours in advance, regrettably, you will forfeit the class.
  • What is Juice4Joy?
Juice4Joy is a company founded by Life Coach Lynda. Her juices are high in vegetables, low in fruit, freshly made and preservative-free. They are specially formulated to support the body’s natural intelligence.
  • What are the cleanses about?
This is a way to give your digestive system a complete break, allowing your energy to be used for healing instead.
  • How does the cleanse work?
The cleanse is a 7-day program that includes meditation, reflection, movement, community and juicing.
  • Do I only drink juice for 7 days?
You will juice for 3-5 days of the program. (You will be guided to make the best choice for you.) You may also eat appropriate snacks, if you need to.
  • Do I need a juicer?
No. The juices are freshly made and provided to you the day before you start juicing.
  • Are the detox symptoms bad?
It depends on how toxic your internal environment is, but the program (and juices themselves) are designed to support the detoxification that happens.
  • What if I can’t cope on the program?
With professional guidance, you will take the cleanse at your own pace. The Juice4Joy Cleanse Club is a community of people who have done / are doing the program and will support you.
  • How often should I do the cleanse?
It is recommended that you do the cleanse once a month. This regularity results in profound changes in the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body.
  • Is this a good way to lose weight?
The goal of the cleanses is not to lose weight; however, it can be a side-effect. Repeating the cleanse regularly can assist in reducing and maintaining your weight.
  • I don’t live in Johannesburg. Can I still join the program?
Unfortunately not. The program has been designed around the Juice4Joy products which are produced in Linden. Transporting them too far will compromise their integrity, as they are fresh and preservative-free.
